Classical Music Saw a Boom in Listening Last Year

As the technological landscape continually expands, access to all types of music becomes easier and easier. Using streaming services such as Spotify and Amazon Music, listeners can now stream any song in the world with just a few clicks. In 2018, the UK saw a 10.2% increase in the sales and streams of classical music, according to record industry trade group BPI. Streaming now accounts for 25.2% of total classical consumption! “This is a dynamic moment in the history of classical music… there is a tremendous opportunity for sustainable growth if the new digital platforms continue to improve the profile and searchability of classical music,” says Geoff Taylor of BPI.
